Victorian Mirrored Fire Screen

Dating from around 1890, this Art Nouveau fire screen is crafted in cast brass and centred around a circular mirror set within a beaded frame.  Flowing foliate ornament winds around the openwork surround, complemented by delicate brass balustrade details that reflect the organic forms characteristic of the period.

Standing on splayed feet, it is a particularly elegant example of late 19th-century Art Nouveau metalwork.
