French Parquetry Bomme Front Commode

Dating from around 1800, this French mahogany commode features a serpentine bombe front with rosewood banding and finely executed parquetry inlay across the drawers and frieze. Two bombe-front drawers retain their original Rococo cast brass handles and escutcheons, above a shaped skirt accented with decorative brass mounts.

The out-swept corners are fitted with caryatid ormolu mounts that extend into tapering cabriole legs, finished with brass sabots. Combining elegant proportions with intricate decorative detailing, this is a finely crafted example of French furniture from the turn of the 19th century.
